Natural
Cycle Protocol
Is used when high dose gonadotropin injections are made and still no
more than 1-2 follicle eggs are developed and to people with low
over capacity.
The purpose is to protect from local procedure complications of
gonadotropin and high costs. Just like in other protocols the
treatment starts by looking for E2 in the blood on the 1st,
2nd and 3rd day of the menstrual period and
with transvaginal ultrasonography.
When the biggest follicle reaches 13-14 mm or when E2 is
100-200pg/ml daily, a single dose of 0.25 mg antagonist treatment
and gonadotropin injection (150IU/day) starts. Daily antagonist
injections including on the hCG day is ongoing. When at least 2
follicles bigger than 17mm are detected hCG is given and 36 hours
later egg gathering process begins.
In the natural cycle, reaching the oocyte gathering stage 28.6-91%,
reaching the embryo transfer 4-81% and 2-17% of pregnancy rate has
been reported.
